About Us

My name is Joshua Dixon; on December 27, 2020, I left my apartment after an altercation with my ex-partner that was abusing me. I left crying because I was so hurt that someone could say they loved me but physically punched me in the stomach. I had diarrhea for the days following.

I was so hurt and devastated, I began speeding in my car down an avenue on the south side of Chicago. I tried to commit suicide in my car that day; I am thankful for my mother. Her spirit and God were with me when I was trying to crash; they guided me home. When I came to my parent’s home shortly after, I confessed to my mother what I almost did, and the next week I checked myself into counseling. I also ended my domestic violence relationship and moved out of our apartment. That was my second attempt at taking my own life.

I Admire you ( later became ‘Admire Wear’), which is very special to my heart.

Months after my suicide attempt, I stared in the mirror with nothing to say to myself. My counselor told me how powerful affirmations were. One day I was crying after a very long emotional day, I looked in the mirror, and I said, “I admire you for not giving up. We got this.” I admire myself for not giving up on life.

I am not alone, we are not alone, because we have each other. Caring for mental health is essential, and it means everything to me. Mental health is physical health. We all need to take care of ourselves and the loved ones around us, also strangers too. Sometimes even saying to someone, "Hey, I Admire you for all you do and don't give up. Keep fighting," can go a long way. My goal for this brand is to join the conversation regarding mental health, mental illness, self-harm, depression, PTSD, suicide; I genuinely believe that together we all can join forces to normalize the act of getting help and talking about these issues without fear and judgment. We all deserve a space in the world to be safe, protected, valued, listened to, and loved.

To Write Love on Her Arms is a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

Admire Wear, has only only been open for three months and we have delivered 44 orders to 13 cities in America. Raising over $1.6k from fundraising events and Sept-Oct proceeds for AFSP.

Since partnering with TWLOHA in November. We have committed to donating 20% of our proceeds to them. As of New Years Day 2022, we have donated over $400 to help them save lives. We wouldn't be able to do it without your love and support.

I am excited to see what achieve in 2022, as the sky is the limit and this is just the beginning.
